Tee Times: Golf Around North Myrtle Beach

The Grand Strand is one of the great golf destinations in the country, and Wait and Sea makes a comfortable, roomy base for a buddies' trip.

If your idea of a beach week involves a morning tee time, you've picked the right coast. The Grand Strand is stacked with courses, and North Myrtle Beach is right in the thick of it. With three bedrooms and space for ten, Wait and Sea is an easy base for a golf group.

Start with Barefoot Resort

Barefoot Resort & Golf, just up the road, is a rare treat: four championship courses on one property, each by a different legend — Greg Norman, Davis Love III, Tom Fazio and Pete Dye. You could play a different big-name design every morning of your trip and never leave the resort.

Book as a package

Myrtle Beach practically invented the golf-package vacation, so it pays to bundle tee times when you plan. Spring and fall bring the best combination of weather and rates; midsummer is hot but the early tee times are glorious.

The nine-to-five split

Here's the beauty of a golf trip based here: the players tee off early and are back by lunch, while everyone else walks to the beach three blocks away. By afternoon the whole group is together on the deck with the grill going. Nobody has to choose between golf and family time.

Clubs in the car, house on the second row — that's a good week.
